Watching ‘A Streetcar Named Marge’ from the fourth season along with the dvd extras, I was amused to find that New Orleans got in a tissy about the showtune about itself. Something along the lines of “rank and foul and … ” Fox, as it is wont, came out with an official apology for dispariging the stinkhole. It was a typical stroke of the show’s brilliance to have the very next weeks episode chalkboard shot having Bart promise: “I will not defame New Orleans.” It’s a pity that Fox only apologizes for it’s imaginary faults, but what can ya do?
