Arsenal drew with Tottenham Hotspurs this morning to win the championship, after rivals Chelsea and Man Utd both lost. This is the 2nd title in 3 years, and 3rd of manager Arsene Wenger’s career at Highbury, and is in addition to another 3 FA Cups (1998, 2002, 2003). Throughout this time, Arsenal has finished at least 2nd each season, reached at least the semis of the FA Cup another 3 times.

The only glitch in this resume is any substantial success in Europe. Arsenal has only reached the last 8 of the Champions League twice, and the finals of the UEFA Cup once. Well, with most of the key players on medium- to long-term contracts, as well a brood of talented youngsters coming through the ranks, there is still time to rectify that gap.
