The Schengen zone consists of 26 countries in the EU with a border agreement allowing those exempt from social visit visa requirements to enter for a maximum of 90 days in any 180 day period. This specifically applies to US/CA/AU citizens and is somewhat troublesome to calculate. In trying to figure this out, I came across these utilities which might help: The official EU one, a less cluttered Visa Calculator, and an iOS app, 90 – Schengen.
The year is finally at at end! I’ve been reading and enjoying a bit of Skyrim lately. It is really the most impressive game I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s quite a treat on the PS3.
I also had a chance to visit Bangkok for a few days and did little but eat the entire time. Thai food is just heavenly. The hotel on Suriwong Road was new to me and quite comfortable, with friendly staff. It would have been nice to know that the stairs are for people, and the elevator for luggage, though I suppose the trudge up them did me no harm.
I’m looking forward to a much better 2012. It will begin with a teacher training program that is quite intense, yet invaluable for both personal proficiency and an internationally recognized certification.
Leaving the past behind …
The trip through Germany and Austria is winding down with only a few days to go. A month in the land of my heritage has really been an amazing adventure. Pix will be up in the gallery when I get a chance to sort through everything upon my return to Singapore. I hope to write some more short entries about my impressions in the various wonderful cities we’ve visited, if only to relive the experience.
